Carolyn, thanks so much for this lovely piece. It was a fantastic reminder of universal hospitality.
I'm afraid I haven't been around to contribute to this most hospitable of communities in the last fortnight so wanted to squeeze in a last comment before the end of July (my time!). The reason I've been absent is that I was studying for a couple of weeks in the south end of Skye.
This, for me, is one of the most wild and beautiful places on earth. Each day you are reminded of the magnificence of the whole affair. Sea, sky, mountains, rain, clouds, mist, wind, sudden bursts of light, an hour of glorious sunshine, a constantly changing landscape revealing the contours of the hills in all her glory, telling us over and over and over: open your eyes! look at this!
Thanks for reminding me of this bounty when I got home :-)

Joanna, what a lovely compliment; thank you. Your description of Skye should be on its website. Yes, I checked it out because I'd not heard of it until today. Thank you for that, too.
