Sunday Blog Paper —Father’s Day Edition

A very happy Father's Day to all you men out there!

Winners Whether you are fathers or not, take advantage of this day to be the man you are destined to be. Wear your values proudly, so that they will rub off in spades on all those who are fathers, helping them understand how critically important they are in the lives of those they have helped to bring into this world. It is our world too, and an ever-more complicated one at that, and each man who is a father will no doubt say that he needs kokua kākou, our help.

We can be Kū Alaka‘i ke ho‘ohanohano kākou, standing tall and standing together for the nobility of our fathers, leading with our own good example of all they had taught us so well.

In honor of the day I invite you to visit my archives for past writing I have done with my deepest aloha for the two fathers I have cherished most in my life, my husband and my father:

One more: This was inspired by a ho'ohana we'd once done on When Parenting Works -
Perpetual Parenting; Hana hou (We need to keep at it)

Photos from the Star Bulletin: More than 50 fathers and their kids crowded center stage at Windward Mall yesterday to compete in the Father-Child Look-Alike Contest. The contest was presented by the Hawaii Coalition for Dads. Charldon Leleo Sr. and Charldon Leleo Jr. in the photo above were the winners.

For our Sunday blog-paper

Great reads this past week from our Ho'ohana Community:

  • Watch these two You Tube clips on Leah Maclean's Working Solo and feel good all over. The rest of your Sunday will feel splendid.
  • If you are looking for a good book Dwayne never steers me wrong, and he has another one to share with us: [Review] Ignited!
  • Great reader discussion on why businesses need to keep their promises over at Own your Brand! very skillfully kicked off by Mike Wagner. Take the time to read Home of the $30,000 Toothbrush.
  • 21st Century Leadership was very thoughtfully written by Terry Starbucker at Ramblings From a Glass Half Full (thoughtful is usually the case for Terry). Read more on why Jeff Immelt of GE is in Starbucker's Half-Full Hall of Fame, and how you can be too.

The Classifieds

Quought = Question that provokes thought

By the way, Rajesh created a great Squidoo Lens on The Power of Questions —do check it out. I was thrilled to be invited to participate in his Quought for the Day series a while back, and admit to being tickled pink in seeing him immortalize it in this way given how many blog archives get doomed to the land of the forgotten. Mahalo nui Rajesh for all the work you put into this!

Father's Day Blog gift!

Does your dad know about the support group waiting for him at Pete's place? He will be in good hands with the rest of the Freakedout Fathers. Perhaps he can start reading here: Symptoms of Freaked-Out Fathers, 5 Reasons Why Parenthood is a Difficult to Navigate for Keepers of the Y-Chromosone
