Well, it wasn't a Christmas gift -- a Valentine's Day gift instead, but could have suited any occasion. My friend gave me some pink cut-out hearts glued to paper lace, each a coupon for something very special, like a foot massage, "support for you when no one else will listen" or "a free meal when you are tired and don't want to cook." The coupons were nice but what touched me deeply is that my friend has a degenerative disease, muscular dystrophy, affecting her hands. Cutting out each one of the twenty or so hearts with scissors had taken her a very long time -- and each heart was absolutely perfect -- which she aspired to be and fulfilled with this gift. I don't think I've ever received anything that penetrated my heart so deeply. It came from hers and was therefore priceless.

Thank you for sharing this Dan. I am sure you were a blessing to your friend to have inspired such a gift, and that your appreciation of it touched her as deeply too.
