Sunday Review 2: Trackbacks Rule
Happy Sunday everyone.
What a productively full week! Our SLC Retreat was a smashing success, and we are so ready to tackle 2007 in a BHAG kind of way.
Reminder ~~~
As of today we are only 5 days away from Hō‘ike‘ike 2006, so do not forget to send me your entries! With the events of the past week I need to catch up on several emails still (thank you for your patience!) however it looks like we have well over a dozen contributors - don’t be left out!
Writing elsewhere ...one each from the other blogs I’ve written for this week;
- On Managing with Aloha Online: Blending Vision and Mission with the Season
- On Lifehack.org: Don’t just ‘Retreat,’ PLAN. Click in to find out what Ho‘olālā means.
- On the Joyful Jubilant Learning Network: My posting there this week was pure silliness; Would this be “Del.icio.us Digging?”
However I highly recommend you read what Tim Milburn wrote, called Maximum Impact - A Blogging Manifesto, for I agree with what Carolyn Manning said in her comment there;
Tim, I sincerely hope your intended audience sees this post. This is a great community that keeps getting better as it gets bigger.
Here on Talking Story, Carolyn and Tony D. Clark started us off on a very delightful game of blog-tag: Always did like the number 5!
Trackbacks rule for following the goodness that followed, but knowing how temperamental TypePad can be in accepting them (for I am sure you tried to send them!) here are five more things you'll love knowing about ...
Comic from bLaugh.com
Chris Owen: I've been tagged.
Dan Oestreich: What! More Self-Disclosure! The Tag Meme Rules!
Dave Rothacker: I Got Tagged
Karen Wallace: Tag, you're it... with time delay
Leah Maclean: Who Would Have Guessed 5 Was Viral
Maria Palma: The Game of Tag: I’m It!
Pete Aldin: 5 X 5: I’ve been tagged?
Rebecca Thomas: That interesting meme
Steve Sherlock: Gotta tag! Gotta tag!
Terry Starbucker: 5 Things You Don't Know About Me (aka Keeping the Tag Alive)
Wayne Turmel: Ouch, I’ve Been Tagged
Each of these very fun people tagged five more friends, so you can get to know a lot of people clicking in!
Mahalo Tony and Carolyn for the joy you shared tagging me into the game :-)

Hi Rosa,
Thank you for the trackback, your kind words and the quote. One of my greatest pleasures is this community.
Reading this post, it occurs to me that 'Carolyn' is starting to sound Hawaiian. Is it my imagination? :)

You are quite welcome Carolyn. You are a pleasure in the Ho‘ohana Community!
About Hawaiian names; you bring it up again just as Daniel Oestreich and I were talking via email about the one given to him, Kaniala, which means “Caller to the path.” This website explains well;
http://www.hawaii.gov/hidocs/hawnames.html
“The giving of a personal name is a very important aspect of Hawaiian culture. People select or are given Hawaiian names through a variety of ways. One way is to be named after someone, possibly a relative, friend, or an admired person from Hawaiian history. Another method is to be given a name which suits the person’s personality.”
So, it’s not the easiest to pronounce, however I would call you Pi‘iaōpua based on this kaona (hidden meaning); Pi‘i is to climb, ao is another word for knowledge, and pua is flower. Pronounce it slowly, one vowel at a time, with the i’s as E’s, the a’s as ahs, the ō as the letter O is said, Oh, and the u as in moo and you’ll have it. Your nickname would be either Pi‘i or Pua – are you more climber, or more flower?
I would choose it for you because as most flowers do, you reach for the light in which you’ll bloom fully, climbing through the branches of this tree we call our community. In doing so, your vine makes us stronger, binding all branches together. The light you are climbing for is knowledge, therefore to me, you are Pi‘iaōpua, “Climbing flower.”

Rosa,
You make my heart smile that you acknowledge my spirit this way.
Climbing flower. So lovely. Today, I am Pi'i, gathering the wisdom to become Pua.
Aloha,
Pi'iaopua

The link to Hawaiian names is wonderful, Rosa. Thanks for sharing that, and your lovely re-naming of Carolyn.
