Here, here! And where doors close, other doors will open. Now you are ready to take advantage of them with the time freed up.

Yes Steve, that time is a gift indeed, and I have made plans already in filling it up!

I lost a couple of real big bunches of business in the aftermath of 9/11 and also the scare over anthrax in the mail. Those were not times to be negotiasting contracts with an airline or with the US Postal Service. Although there were big finacial hits involved, the losses opened up space for other things -- like writing a book that I had been "too busy for."
Steve is right in my experience -- where doors close, other doors will open.

Aloha Dick, mahalo for stopping by. Your terrific book was a big and beautiful door for you and for the rest of us!
Ironically, at SLC we have talked about 9/11 as a significant factor in bringing us some of the success we have enjoyed. We are often told our MWA coaching and training curriculum fills a need created by the void left in the 9/11 aftermath, where in-house HR programs on building talent were part of the casualties. We offer people a much better value in comparison to starting over from scratch.
Good/bad timing and resulting opportunity factor into many situations, and indeed, my self-coaching right now is about my own walk through these doors, and that means my self-discipline. I’ve always been an optimist who counts her blessings and looks for the bright side of things; my challenge is seizing the actions. I am very fortunate to have our Ho‘ohana Community as my support group! No resting on one’s laurels with this bunch!

Optimism is good. And optimists have way more fun than pessimists.
