Rosa, your birthday! May it be a very special and happy day indeed!

Aloah Rosa - May your birthday be as special as you are! Party like a rockstar, with some rockstars, or should I say, party like an author, with some authors? Do both, keep sharing your aloha, and enjoy the day that is yours!

Happy birthday, Rosa. I hope you have a memorable day tomorrow. I don't know if in Hawaii it is common to get presents on your birthday. I hope you tell us about your special day on Monday.
Love,
Felix

Mahalo nui everyone for your good wishes!
Felix, it is customary here to give gifts on one's birthday too, or to celebrate in some way. As I've gotten older, my family and friends know I prefer the coffee dates, luncheons, and other people-connecting events to gifts though... the marching of time serves to remind me that our days on this earth are precious, and we should spend them with those we care about.
I’ve gone through a couple of cycles in reinventing my birthday traditions. I make sure I say mahalo to my mom for having me, and for helping me shape this life I’ve managed to craft, and now I really enjoy being the one to buy and give gifts to other people on my birthday, a way of celebrating that I’m still around to do the giving which brings me joy.
