Wow, that's quite a story Dwayne. And quite a quote: refuse to be defined by your day part. I couldn't agree more. Only you define you, and the more you allow others to define you, the less happy and successful you will be.
Thanks for sharing. I'm definitely inspired!

A fascinating rewarding site to read. This and http://37days.typepad.com/ are going to be my regular inspirational reads.
(On the about page the"http://www.sayleadershipcoaching.com/values.html" link is broken)

Aloha Pearl, and mahalo nui for reading Talking Story. Thank you too for the heads up on the broken link; I do appreciate the kindness and will fix it right after posting this message for you.
I've clicked in to your own site and it is wonderful! The article you have up right now on Chocolate is inspired.
Welcome to the Ho'ohana Community,
Rosa

Thanks, Pearl - and wow - thank you for showing me 37days. That one's a keeper.

Hi, Dwayne! Thanks for this posting. I've worn several different hats over the course of my own career, and I've found each change to be wonderfully exciting. I started working as a computer science TA when I was sixteen - a job I "should" have been considered "unqualified" for - and I'm not sure I've ever been "qualified" for anything I've ever taken on since! So I really know where you're coming from. I'm just not happy if I'm not learning something new. (Or sharing something new I've learned!)
Also, thanks for telling me about this website. Not only do I love the content, but it also reminds me of the place I love most in the world! I have family on Oahu and spent a semester as a visiting student at UH while I was finishing up my law degree. (Where, incidentally, I took two graduate level philosophy courses instead of sticking to the law department. Now THAT was an interesting challenge.) Mahalo, Rosa, for this wonderful community!
Keep learning, keep growing, keep sharing those experiences! I love it!
Mahalo,
EM
