Scott’s Time for Leadership

When leadership is awarded and asked of people you know are absolutely right for that role, it is indeed time to celebrate.

Please join me in sending your Ho‘omaika‘i ‘ana (congratulations) to Scott and Amanda Hodge. You know them from my references to Weebleland, for Scott is part of our Ho‘ohana Online Community, and Scott made this announcement Sunday:

Today, I, along with Amanda, accepted the role of Lead Pastor of our church - Orchard Valley Community Church (a.k.a. "The Orchard") here in Aurora, Illinois (outside of Chicago.)

This is the same church that my father pastored for 27 years until his sudden passing this past October. Three years ago, Amanda and I joined his staff to help lead the church through a "turnaround" journey.

They say that “to those whom much is given, much is expected,” however in my view there is another part of the phrase missing -- much is accepted. Scott has always impressed me as someone of vision and optimism palena ‘ole (without limits or boundaries) and this is a leadership “acceptance” that I am very heartened by and excited about.

Ho‘omaika‘i ‘ana Scott, congratulations.
(The literal translation of Ho‘omaika‘i ‘ana, is “from this, goodness will flow.”)
