I rather like this one by William Temple:
"Humility does not mean thinking less of yourself than of other people, nor does it mean having a low opinion of your own gifts. It means freedom from thinking about yourself at all."
I love the comparison of humility to underwear tho - v. appropriate!

That is a very, very good one Amy. Freedom from thinking about ourselves may be the most essential freedom of them all... that is a very yummy concept to aim for!
