My newspaper reading is having immediate results...

Hunting for a way to find the full transcript of our governor's speech yesterday at a gathering of the Hawaii Economic Association, for the selected snippets I can find in our newspaper AND online are just not adding up, and I am trying to give her the benefit of the doubt.

For instance:
[Linda] Lingle blamed the media for painting what she said was a grim and inaccurate picture of Hawaii's economy based on the nation's economic problems. "People locally continue to hear these (media) reports and commentaries about how bad the economy is and how it keeps getting worse," she said. "But the fact is that many of these stories simply don't apply to Hawaii." -as printed in West Hawaii Today by Sudhin Thanawala of the Associated Press

I completely understand why the governor feels she must instill more confidence in us - that is what I mentioned wanting to do myself in this post - yet on the other hand, the stories as I can find them, do portray her as going to the other extreme in pointing an overly rosy economic picture, and having her head in the sand.

An example hitting home for me in today's mail arrival: A "Power cost adjustment" has added 46.3% to our water bill, and 65.6% to our electricity bill!
