Okay, last Sunday's post was great (umm, unobjectively speaking) but kinda wordy and cerebral. So this week, what say we go more fun and creative (and Digital-Learning Brex-y)?
Can you give me the next 15 or 20 minutes of your day? Creative thinking is as easy as doing something different.
Okay, here we go.
1. Get up from your computer-reading chair (just leave this on the screen) and collect all the post-it note pads you might have around. How long have you been sitting and surfing? S-t-r-e-t-ch --- it's good for you!
While you're at it, grab some colored pens or pencils too.
2. Got 'em? Great. Next, be sure you have some space next to your keyboard where you can spread out some of those post-its in a kind of storyboard - you'll need the space to write on them.
3. Okay, now get comfortable. I'm going to send you to another site, where you can watch a couple of videos. If you have the space, push your keyboard/computer/laptop back away from you a bit so you have space to write in front of you too: You just click once on the link I will be giving you, and the film loop that is there will keep going on its own.
I love Eliza, the hostess of these videos, and I think you will too. Her energy is contagious.
Get ready to catch it!
"Post-its. Internet. I think we've got something here."
4. Here are your instructions: (not that you will really need them... feel free to nalu it and go with the flow...)
Watch the videos. Go for as short or as long as you like, but I'd say no shorter than the first two, which would be about 8 minutes total.- As you watch, capture your thoughts or ideas on the post-its: Write just one per post-it note.
- Spread 'em out and write, doodle, draw... whatever moves you.
When you have a good amount of post-its (you define what "good" is to you)
...or you run out of space (what the heck...let that be the constraint),
stop the videos (just close the window) and then play with your post-its.
Add to 'em.
Color 'em.
Story-board 'em.
Adore the ones you think are way-cool, and crumple up the one's that you look at and go, "Huh?"
If they give you some aloha-writing inspiration, grab your journal and go for it.
Come back here when you are done and share what happened with us!
5. Okay, ready? Here is the link, and have fun!
