Kākou in a 5-Beat Rhythm

How will you continue to make Kākou, and communicating with the Language of We your habit?

How did Kākou, the value of inclusiveness and togetherness translate into concrete action for you?

You had two options in using Managing with Aloha Coaching this month:

1. If you choose Kākou, know that my intention is to truly focus on the communication skills of this value. You may want to take a moment to simply inventory the way you communicate now, and how it may vary with different groups of people. No in-depth analysis, just an inventory that will give you a before and after once the month is done.

2. If you choose MWA3P, do another inventory. This one should be with what you consider your basic and favorite productivity tools. Then, ask yourself: Do I have a trusted system that serves me well? What do I now like about it, and what would I want to improve upon? Because we will only have 4 Sundays to work with, we will not go through much detail with MWA3P, but you will learn of an overview that will give you a new lens through which to view your own system.

If you have not yet done so, it is time to debrief your month, for soon it will be Ka lā hiki ola, the dawning of a new day. Thursday (yes, already!) will be November 1: New month, new value (Mahalo is next), with a fresh start at Beat 1.

A Quick Review:

Managing with Aloha: Self-Coaching in a 5-beat Rhythm ~ ~ ~

BEAT 1. We start with an essay on the value of the month. That first time you read it, take some time to write down two things: 1) Your questions, and 2) Your intention in learning more about the value.

You may recall I had made an additional suggestion for you with Kākou: Beat 1 Coaching for Kākou: Who is your We? One of the execs I coach told me she bought Tom Rath’s book, Vital Friends, and that the different roles he speaks about within our friendships has helped her look at the strengths of her leadership team in a newly valuable way.

BEAT 2. Read what is posted here at MWAC during the month specifically looking for the answers to your questions, and help with your intentions.

BEAT 3. Sunday Mālama gives you different options. Our weekend departures are for reflections of self-care.

Well, normally they are. This month, I shared a 4-Article series on MWA3P: the productivity coaching we teach at Say Leadership Coaching. Though believe me, there are a lot of self-care possibilities there too! Did you discover them?

BEAT 4. Capture your learning. Connect your value learning to a set of specific weekly actions that are most relevant to your own situation.

This month, a bonus to help you was posted on Joyful Jubilant Learning: Did you catch it there? Learn a 5-Step Weekly Review: You’ll love it.

BEAT 5. Manage well! Great managers create their future, and they don’t settle, or wait for things to just happen to them. Self-coach going forward by writing down the action steps of your future follow-through.

This is all about creating Great Habits. Your reward?

Creating Great Habits = Creating a Great Organizational Culture: How Organizational Culture Happens.

Perhaps you could tell; I adore coaching Kākou. It is one of my favorites because it can be such a quick catalyst of better results for us. Time and time again, I see the best reinvented conversations happen in those companies which initially gave me the most push-back, saying, “But honestly Rosa, we talk to each other every day!”

I know you do. However changing it up Kākou style can be pretty darn good.

This month flew by for me (you too?) In this last week I had more writing left than I could possibly fit in. However it will keep for another day (and for better edits!) It is time to move on. David Zinger taught us a new Language of Intention in this regard too, remember GEMO?

GEMO
Zero in and Focus.
Choose for maximum impact.
Streamline.

Don’t add to your work-load: Replace poor habits with better ones. (Learn the ‘Ōpala ‘ole Rule)
Choose for your Ho‘ohana, the passionate, purposeful work you thrive on doing.

Writing Postscript:

If you are just now joining us, I recommend you leave Kākou be for now, and get a jump on next month. Start your reading + doing right here: Design a note-taking template you can use in the coming month with Mahalo, the Hawaiian value of appreciation, gratitude and thankfulness.
